Dear Friends and Tutoring Advocates,

Greetings! If our October newsletter is the first time you have heard from me or NJTC since Spring, we hope you had a great summer and that the new school year is going well for you all.

NEW NJTC DATA SUCCESS!

Later this month, NJTC will release our annual "Impact Study" for school year 2024-25. As part of our commitment to transparency, NJTC releases to the public each year the findings of an independent third-party evaluation, which tracks NJTC’s results. Last year, we saw significant increases in students reaching grade-level performance in both math and ELA after only one year of NJTC tutoring.

The annual Study is essential for two key reasons. First, we fulfill one of our top priorities, to provide the Garden State with accurate, independent, and transparent data. As a partner to many school districts throughout the state and as a non-profit entity, it is of profound importance that we show our results and are held accountable.

Secondly, NJTC was created to serve as a focal point for tutoring and advocate for it throughout the state. As the only institution providing this kind of information, the data once again reaffirms what so many already know: High-impact tutoring works! And that the return on investment for tutoring serves our public school families well.

Our independent researcher is currently working on this year's Report and some initial takeaways are showing that our focus on scholars two or more grade levels behind had very strong results - the percentage of our math scholars who started the cycle two or more grade levels below was cut in half, and the percentage of literacy scholars two or more grade levels below was reduced by one third.

We plan to release the independent report in October - but please take a moment to review the preview infographic below for some initial findings.

THANK YOU, NEW JERSEY ELECTEDS!

In addition to our data update, we also want to thank the many elected officials who visited our tutoring centers throughout the summer.

NJTC is a unique institution with a collective that supports a NJTC team of administrators and tutors who work tirelessly on behalf of our public school scholars. As the key advocates for tutoring in New Jersey, we are supported by both individual donors and school districts across the state, as well as key foundations, including the Overdeck Family Foundation, The Tepper Foundation, the Debra and Kenneth Caplan Foundation, The Carlson Family Foundation, and The Stone Foundation.

Of great importance is that we are also supported by our elected officials in Trenton.

We would simply not be able to accomplish all that we do without the bipartisan support of our State Assembly and State Senate, including Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz, Senate Education Committee Chair Vin Gopal, Senator Linda Greenstein, Assemblywoman Andrea Katz, Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor Marin, and many others. This summer, NJTC hosted several elected officials who were interested in learning more about NJTC and invested the time to visit their local NJTC Tutoring Center. These visits mean a great deal to our NJTC team. Please visit our new webpage, which showcases these visits. And if you are a local or statewide elected official and ever interested in receiving a tour or learning more, please contact me anytime or email contact@njtutoringcorps.org.
